Culinary Arts & Catering

Mountain Lake Academy offers a comprehensive credit-bearing culinary program. From the basics, including the identification and use of proper cooking tools and implements, to the planning and preparing of meals for large groups, students are provided an advanced culinary skill-base that lays the foundation for advanced study or a career in the culinary arts.

Students learn the basics of kitchen sanitation and food safety. Soon, they are given the opportunity to employ their newly acquired knowledge to assist in the preparation and serving of meals to the students and staff at Mountain Lake.

Students who excel in this unique and original culinary program are given the opportunity to enroll in the Mountain Lake Academy Catering Program, also known as Fresh Start Functions. This program allows students to take their skills to the next level and cater VIP functions, formal dinners, weddings, organization and agency luncheons, and other private events. Through this experience, students have the opportunity to learn how to prepare and present gourmet dishes, design food displays and appetizer arrangements, set up artesian dessert tables, and create customized ice sculpture centerpieces.
